Seasons Greetings from Menzies Law2012 has been a busy and momentous year for employment law, and as the year comes to a close there are further significant Government employment law proposals in store for us in 2013. The Government has just announced the reduction of the 90-day collective consultation period and is committed to going ahead with its employee/owner proposals, despite the view of almost every group of commentators that they are going to prove unpopular and fraught with legal risks and difficulties. The new Employment Tribunal compensation limits have also recently been published. Finally, we round up with cases covering a welcome decision that discussing retirement with an employee was not age discrimination, and a warning to employers not to come down too heavy on the use of non-work related social media.
