What do we already know?

We updated you in our September 2016 Newsletter Government reforms (2): Tribunal claims that for the period April to June 2016 Tribunal claims continue to fall but that the decline is seemingly slowing.

What’s new?

On 9 March 2017, the Ministry of Justice published the Tribunal quarterly statistics for the period October to December 2016.

The decline in Tribunal claims seems to being slowing further and even in fact shows a small increase.  During this quarter:

• The number of single claims received by Tribunals in fact went up 3% compared with the same quarter in 2015 and resulted in a 7% increase in the outstanding case load; and
• Tribunals disposed of 8% more claims (10,922) this quarter compared with the same period in 2015.
