Government reforms (4):  Gender pay gap reporting – suspended!

What do we already know?

Public/private sector Employers with 250+ employees should have been reporting their March/April 2019 gender pay gap figures (GPG) by 31 March/4 April 2020 at the latest.

What’s new?

On 24 March 2020 the Government announced that the obligation to report and publish 2019/20 GPG figures (based on March/April 2019 payroll figures) has been removed for this year only.  However, reporting in future years will be required.  Around 3,000 employers (roughly a quarter of eligible employers) had already reported their GPG data by the time of this announcement.

For the avoidance of doubt, employers who qualify for the requirement to publish and report their GPG data will still need to collect their March/April 2020 payroll figures and report these by 31 March/4 April 2021.
