How about…

  • Having complete freedom in when, where and how much you work?
  • Taking home the vast majority of your fee earnings?
  • Space to simply be a great lawyer, with no management duties – all of the time?
  • Going on holiday whenever you want?
  • Working school hours only?
  • Fitting your work around caring responsibilities, pets, sport and leisure?
  • Setting whatever fees you want?
  • An end to office politics and endless management/partners’ meetings?
  • No more office ‘presentee-ism’?
  • Getting away from the stifling corporate atmosphere?
  • Joining a like-minded band of specialists, in a specialist firm that suits your practice area?

We’re looking for experienced, ambitious, successful lawyers practicing in employment law and associated fields to join us as Consultants, and thereby revolutionise their lifestyle and income.

If you are a practising solicitor or barrister with PQE 10+, currently at a top 100 UK law firm (or equivalent), with an existing client base, entrepreneurial flair and a wish to dramatically improve your work/life balance and your earning power by practising as a self-employed Consultant, then get in touch with us.

We are offering Consultant positions in our well-established, Bristol-based specialist employment law firm, where you can work when and where you like, for whom you like, and take home a vast amount more from your fees than you will as an employee or partner of a traditional law firm.

Practice areas

We are interested to hear from lawyers specialising in employment law and other fields which complement employment law, such as pensions & benefits, business immigration and data protection.   Such complementary practitioners could expect to find a rich seam of potential referral work within our firm’s core client base.

Structure

As a Consultant enjoying self-employed status, you would work under the same umbrella as our core specialist employment law team, enjoying many benefits from our well-established law firm structure and brand.

You would need to attract and service your own clients, but with the freedom to work as and when you wish, charging what you wish, with no billing targets and an absolute minimum of conditions governing how you practice.  Our highly experienced, entrepreneurial team would be there to support and guide you as you grow, in such ways as business development, marketing, PR and pricing.

Consultant Support

Our ‘niche’ firm, established in 2009 and now the leading specialist employment law firm in the South-West, can provide you – in return for a share of your fee income – with a vast amount of support and structure.  This allows you to concentrate fully on your client work.

We provide:

  • PII cover
  • Practice management IT
  • Compliance
  • Remote IT access
  • Accounts
  • PLC access
  • Billing
  • Holiday cover (optional)
  • Credit control
  • Archiving
  • Banking
  • Website
  • Telecoms & call answering
  • Marketing advice & support
  • Message taking
  • PR advice & support
  • Admin support
  • Strategic advice & support
  • Post scanning
  • Mentoring (optional)
  • Client newsletters & blogs (optional)
  • Referral opportunities within firm
  • Informal & social support from colleagues
  • Working under a well-established brand

As a Consultant you would take home 70-80% of your fee income.  In comparison, as a partner or associate in a traditional law firm, the very most you could expect to take would be 33%.  We would be happy to match or better the terms offered by any ‘virtual’ law firm.  We also believe that our specialist firm offers a friendlier and more appropriate home for a self-employed Consultant in employment law or associated practice areas than any ‘virtual’ firm, especially if you live in the South West or South Wales.
