springIn keeping with the spirit of Spring, if we ever see it this year, the Government has been renewing its pledges for the continued growth of its Employment/HR reforms. However, it appears that the pace was becoming a little too fast and so it has put back a number of its reforms until later in the year. The Government is also seeing the growth of its employment law reforms stifled by external factors – the House of Lords has recently voted against the proposed new employee shareholder status. Despite this, the Government is pushing ahead with its ‘family friendly’ reforms and has just published its consultation on sharing parental leave. As well as covering these developments, we update you with two cases on taking previous warnings into account on dismissal and the importance of using sensible selection criteria in redundancy dismissals.
