I am delighted to start the New Year by introducing myself as the new Learning & Development Manager for Menzies Law.
My role will involve me working with hopefully all of our firm’s clients to plan, design and deliver a wide range of L&D events and services to help develop your staff. I am keen to work with you to understand and develop your own L&D strategies, on which I can offer guidance and consultancy where useful.
My engagement with you will follow and extend our firm’s ‘blended solutions’ approach, under which we seek to provide you with a blend of legal, HR and L&D services, all from the one advisory team, to help tackle your people management challenges in the most effective and ‘joined up’ way possible.
For the last 20 years I have worked with many organisations, large and small, to help them manage and develop their people and provide their staff with environments in which they can thrive. Being a manager is not an easy job – people are so unpredictable! The very best managers have a range of ideas, management styles, techniques and knowledge so that they can choose the best way to manage individuals and know the right things to do in difficult circumstances.
My challenge for the next month or two is to understand what training events and resources will be most relevant and effective for us to develop; and then design them so that they are engaging, challenging and really deliver the results you’re after. I believe in working collaboratively with clients, so I will be taking the opportunity to get to know you and to ensure that our solutions are tailored for you and your unique requirements.
During 2015 you will see us building on our existing programme of training events, seminars and conferences, offering you more management and leadership events, bespoke workshops and other training options for your organization, and a real keenness to support you to shape your own Learning & Development strategy.
January is the time of year when we traditionally create a long and worthy list of things we resolve to achieve, which will change us forever and transform the lives of those around us. So whilst I resolve to be a better, more patient mother (with the magic ability to pair up every sock in the Hunter household), I also resolve to focus my efforts on creating a really superb L&D offering for you all, and to getting to know as many of you as possible.
If you would like to know about our new Learning & Development services please do get in touch – especially if you have any tips for finding those elusive socks.
