From 1 October 2014 expectant fathers, or the partner of a pregnant woman, will have the right to take unpaid time off work to attend two antenatal appointments with their partner (with each one lasting no more than 6.5 hours).
The Government has published a guide for employers, available here. This sets out a number of FAQs which include who qualifies to take time off, how much time they can take off, and what can happen if their request for time off is refused.
