What do we already know?

 We updated you in our October 2015 Newsletter Government reforms (1): Cap on exit payments that the Government proposed that exit payments to public sector workers should be capped at £95,000 (which include pay in lieu or notice, redundancy and ex gratia payments).

 

What’s new?

The implementation of the cap on public sector exit payments is getting closer.

On 1 February 2017 s41 of the Enterprise Act 2016 came into force which allows the Government to issue regulations capping public sector exit payments to £95,000. However, the date for implementation of those regulations (the Public Sector Exit Payment Regulations 2016) is still uncertain so watch this space…
