Updated Government Guidance on Fit Notes

The government has published updated guidance on Fit Notes (available here).

In addition to a general update on the content and using the fit note, it also provides an update on recent policy changes to who (and in what form) may provide these.

The guidance includes a checklist for use by managers when they receive a fit note (available here), FAQs and case studies (available here). These particularly focus on using the ‘may be fit for work’ option on the fit note and exploring what temporary changes or adjustments could be made to the employee’s role to facilitate their return to work.
