Increases to Employment Tribunal compensation
The increase applies to dismissals taking place on or after 6 April 2023. (In cases where the date of termination falls before 6 April 2023, the old limits continue to apply). For more detail on the nature of this award and that of bands for injury to feelings awards (more below) please see here.
These changes are made to reflect the increase in the retail prices index (RPI) of 12.6% from September 2021 to September 2022.
Statutory week’s pay: This increases from £571 to £643. (It is used to calculate statutory redundancy payments and the basic award for unfair dismissal).
Compensatory award: The maximum award for unfair dismissal increases from £93,878 to £105,707.
Basic award: The minimum basic award for certain automatically unfair dismissals increases from £6,959 to £7,836.
Increase to ‘Vento’ (Injury to feelings) bands
