So, what can you expect in this issue of our Newsletter?
Some reforms to UK employment law surprised us earlier this week. We summarise these before moving onto several other employment law changes of note.
With the probable burial of the Employment Bill, we are instead seeing a number of Private Members Bills being backed by Government. In our ‘Legislative Changes’ section we’ll expand on Bills aimed at enabling workers to request predictable working patterns and extending employer liability for sexual harassment. There is new Government guidance on Ethnicity Pay Reporting, encouraging employees (particularly the over 50’s) to return to the workplace, plus useful new ACAS guidance for employers making reasonable adjustments for employees with mental health conditions.
We’ve got 5 recent EAT decisions for you. We consider the implications of these cases which cover a range of employment law topics including justifying disability-related discrimination, employment status, and sex discrimination.
‘Employment law issues to keep on your radar’ includes the recent announcement that the Government wants to review whistleblowing legislation.
We hope this issue proves a useful and informative read, and that you enjoy de-stressing with our ‘nothing to do with employment law’ bit!
Best wishes from all at Menzies Law
Studies show that watching a beaver eat cabbage lowers stress. We don’t know what makes it so watchable but we’re enjoying it all the same.
You’re welcome 😊
